This place is a blessing. We were traveling with a group of mixed eaters (picky, meat eaters and vegans) as well as having to eat super late. We ttried lots on the menu. The app sampler was fantastic. The first night I had the burger. It was perfection. The second night I had the roast beef. I'm fairly picky with roast beef but this was fantastic. Perfectly thinly sliced. Both nights I had buffalo fries which were amazing. Others in our group had the flat bread and tofu sandwich. Everyone loved everything. Would highly recommend if traveling thru Johnson City. Only downfall is BYOB but that was fine. We stopped and picked up on the way. No biggie.

Stopped in on my way out of Johnson City, because locals kept recommending this spot. I wasn't disappointed. The waitress recommended the Beckinator burger for a first timer and it was absolutely excellent. Cook time ran just a little bit long, but the burger and homemade chips made it worth the wait, and overall service was great. Would definitely recommend.

OK, I'm going to add a star. Yesterday I had an appt with my hair colorist and she used to live in JC. I was filling her in on my visit and told her about my experience at MCG and she said, "Oh no...you were WAY too sober to go there!" Well, I can appreciate that so I won't be such a bitch and give them the 3. However, I still maintain that a roll of paper towels and a bottle of Windex wouldn't hurt anything.

Finally getting around to reviewing this place. I ordered for pick up late evening about two weeks ago. I got a Beckinator with bacon cheese fries and my Beloved got The Heater with bacon cheese fries. Pretty good. Better than it was the first time I tried it four years ago. The Beckinator is a pretty large bacon cheese burger with really yummy Guiness onions. I took a bite of The Heater and instantly regretted it. Its super spicy but yummy. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. It was 28 something for burgers and fries but its a lot of food. My only complaint is the fries seemed kinda cold and maybe not as fresh as they should have been even though I picked the order up promptly.

I've been out of Tennessee for seven years now and STILL talk about the tofu burger. The owners are super friendly and they're open all night. I would add this to one of the 5 restaurants you must visit in Northeast Tennessee. I get excited to come home for the holidays to get my MCG fix!!

Came here after a concert because it was the only late night spot in Johnson City. I don't live here but I may come back. The service was great and the burger was out of this world. I just got the regular cheeseburger with some add ons and it was fantastic. The saucy sauce is unbelievable and you get a huge side of fries. I came with a vegetarian friend who absolutely loved her unburger she said it was the best veggie burger she's had. Definitely worth your time!

I don't know how the staff are so friendly when we go in after spending the night out. They have delicious buffalo frys and decent burgers. Great place to go after a night out

I don't live in JC anymore, but this was the only late night destination worth considering when I did. Awesome burgers, great home fries, and cool atmosphere. Post last call, this place is a must.

My family loves this restaurant! We've been eating here for years and it is hands down our most favorite restaurant in Johnson City. Pros: 1. Vegan Menu! The staff and the owner know how to cater to the non-meat eaters in the bunch. THANK YOU! The Tofu burger is delicious. 2. Portabella Fingers! This is usually my whole meal. The crispy coating is perfect with the dipping sauce. Mmmmm 3. FRENCH FRIES! Seriously the best fries anywhere. 4. Fried banana peppers. If you haven't tried these, you're really missing out on a treat for your taste buds. 5. The HUGE burgers. My husband is a carnivore and thinks the burgers are fantastic. The sizes range from regular to ginormous. I think 12 people could share their larger burger. And tons of toppings to choose from. 6. BYOB! Really fantastic to be able to bring your own 6 pack of beer or bottle of wine. 7. Best cheesecake in the area. Even rivals Cootie Browns Cons: I think the "dive" feeling adds to the character. Although, it would be nice if they would spruce the place up a bit and make it more comfortable and inviting. Although, since their main attraction is the late late night drunk college crowd, I can see not spending too much money on decor.

Thanks to all you yelpers out there, we decided to take your advice and try this place. Seriously, we wouldn't have looked twice at this place and had passed it by. But since we were in the area and the reviews were good, here we are. First impression- what a dive! Secondly- you seat yourself and I even went up to find out where the menus were and if I had to put in my own order. The waitress was the same gal you pay at the register, and she cleans tables too. Secondly- empty for a Saturday night! But the burgers and fries we had- oh heaven! It was so perfect in taste and seasoning! We want to see this on diners, drive in and dives, because it makes the cut! And if we are back in this area, it goes on the list of places we have to eat at! I think you will agree.....

Hamburger Heaven! Yum! I don't even know what more to say. You gotta try this place. Literally I don't think you can find a better burger in the Tri-Cities. We also tried the Portabella fingers (fried mushrooms) with the saucy sauce, they were scrumptous. And for desert we decided on the home made brownie cheesecake. All I can say is uum, uum good! Its not the easiest place to find and,its def not your average cookie cutter restaurant. But that's where you usually find better food. This place could definitely be on food network with Guy Fieri's "Diners,Drive-Ins & Dives". It's that GOOD!

Do yourself a favor and just go there. Seriously. They have inventive and tasty food that you can't get anywhere else in addition to staples like burgers and fries. Everyone can find something to love here.

The food was excellent. Service was a little slow, only because they had just one server. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning. Very kid friendly as well.

It's a shame Johnson City doesn't use Yelp very much because Mid-City deserves about a thousand 5-star reviews. First of all: Best burgers in town, hands down. Not sure what Jeff seasons them with but they are heavenly and unique. He also likes to make a lot of interesting, unique sauces to put on everything. One of the staples is "Get Saucy" sauce (garlic apricot, which is surprisingly delicious)--if you're feeling adventurous, try the Gravity Burger, which has that sauce, homemade hummus, and roast beef in addition to the burger. (Other sauces I've liked have included sriracha mayo and chipotle ketchup.) If you're with friends, get a Full Nelson (or a double! or a triple!), which is a 1.5 (3, 4.5) pound burger on a ciabatta bun and might as well be eaten like a cake. If you split a Triple Full Nelson with six people you each get over half a pound of burger and it costs you $6 each. Also: the fries are awesome and fresh and I absolutely recommend getting them with bacon and cheese. They have epic cheesecakes that a woman makes and sells to them.. they're always really unique and absurdly delicious and rich. It's open super late so it's a great late-night hangout. Not really sketchy at all or anything. You should go to Mid City at any time, though. Seriously, you won't regret it. It's a unique and quirky little place with some of the best food you can possibly find.

Atmosphere: Late Night Delivery. Service: No complaints. Food: Biscuits and Gravy were good, loved the gravy but a tad bit salty for my taste and I love salt. Portobella Fingers were okay, they just tasted fried to me. I loved the pork dip, which was salty, sweet and savory. Gravity Burger was good, but probably would have been better with a little more horseradish and hummus ( I could barely taste either). Cheese fries were okay: the fries were good but the cheese was shredded cheddar. I'd rather see a cheese sauce rather then cheese tossed on top because its easier to eat. Cost: Good prices for the quality of food. Overall: Definitely would go back again, worth the money.

You have to try this place! Easily the best burger and fries around, but next time I'm getting the pita pizza.

Good prices and it's BYOB. Close your eyes and choose anything on the menu I guarantee you'll love it.
